In its first full summer season as part of the Go-Ahead Group, East Yorkshire wanted to revamp and modernise its coastal services in and between Scarborough and Bridlington, whilst in Hull there have been changes to the coach hire division. Jonathan Welch finds out more about the relaunched Coaster and Beachcomber services, and what the future holds for coaching
East Yorkshire became a part of Go North East on Monday 18 June 2018, mid-way through the busiest period for the traditional Yorkshire coast holiday resorts it serves; the biggest among them being Bridlington and Scarborough, both home to seasonal open-top services. As the company got used to its new direction, a number of new brands were launched, as well as a new East Yorkshire identity, and the opportunity was taken to refresh and update the open-top offering in the two towns, along with routes 12 and 13 which links them with the numerous holiday camps in between. In order to facilitate and oversee the upgrades and act as eyes and ears on the ground, Area Director Ben Gilligan brought in Thomas Betteridge.
