It has been reported in the Italian media that Naples public transport operator Azienda Napoletana Mobilità SpA (ANM) has issued new instructions for bus and trolleybus passengers to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
For an indefinite period from 6 March it has been forbidden to board an ANM bus or trolleybus through the front door, and ticket sales on board have been banned. ANM says that these security measures are necessary to protect its drivers from Coronavirus and allow it to ensure a constant service even during the ongoing health crisis. ANM also announced that it will carry out additional cleaning of vehicles and ANM offices open to the public, in order to contain as far as possible the spread of contagion on the city’s public transport. Other transport operators have announced similar measures to ensure buses are disinfected and minimise risk to passengers, whilst the number of people travelling is reported to have dropped significantly according to local sources.
