The coach industry converged on Cheltenham recently for what may have been its last large gathering for many months to come. Richard Sharman was on hand to record the event
The Cheltenham Gold Cup week is always a busy time for coach operators nationwide, but with the threat of COVID-19 gathering pace, there was much debate as to whether the event would go ahead and even if it did, would there be many coach cancellations?
The overall amount of PCVs visiting was still strong, but it was notable that the coach park over the railway bridge was not as full as normal on Gold Cup day, with around 20 fewer coaches than normal. However, this event turned out to be the last big gathering of PCVs in the country for a while, as the Monday after the event Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all non-essential travel should end and large gatherings should be cancelled.
