The appearance of London Bus Company’s immaculate RT3435 (LYR 854) on the guest vehicles running day marked the first time an AEC Regent had operated service 68 since Westcliff-on-Sea Motor Services’ pre-war Regents (of the famous ‘GJ’, ‘GN’ and ‘GW’ registered batches), those ousted by Eastern National’s converted ex-City Coach Co Leyland PD1s in 1956.
Driven by a beaming London Bus Company MD Roger Wright, the RT approaches Leigh Station at the western end of the route.
