Former Stagecoach Banbury depot Bus Driver and Duty Scheduler Martin Townsend passed away at Sobel House in Oxford on 26 November.

Martin was a keen transport enthusiast and put a lot of effort into keeping a detailed record of everything to do with Banbury depot, from detailed fleet lists to photographs.

He joined Banbury depot as a driver in 1988, when the company was owned by Western Travel, prior to its later sale to Stagecoach. In his time at the depot he was responsible for the rosters, duties and running cards, ensuring that they were always driver friendly.

He left the depot in 2001 to work for the council, and later took retirement to look after his elderly mother.

Martin had a lifelong interest in the operations of Banbury depot, Post Office vans and music, with a collection of over 4,000 LP records. He continued to assist fellow enthusiasts by sending fleet information on Banbury depot to Steven Knight Media for publishing on his website.

He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
