Paula Russell impressed the UK Coach Awards judges earlier this year with her performance as a National Express Coach Station Manager. Angela Youngman learnt more about the rising star
Taking responsibility for two National Express coach stations operating on either side of the Bristol Channel requires a lot of juggling, especially when it can involve dealing with major events such as Glastonbury. It takes a very special person to succeed under such conditions, which is why the judges at the UK Coach Awards had no hesitation in giving Paula Russell the highest possible accolade.
Named Young Coach Industry Professional of the Year 2019, Paula Russell has only had responsibility for the Bristol and Cardiff stations since 2016. The two cities are 44 miles apart, a journey that takes around an hour each way. Teamwork and good management techniques are therefore essential, as Paula has to be able to rely on her team to deal with any situation that arises whilst she is at the other location.
