Following its success in Hong Kong, ADL has made progress in a number of markets in the Asia-Pacific region

Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) has been announced as winner of a Board of Trade Award, which recognises companies for their excellence in international trade, demonstrating innovation, creativity and entrepreneurialism.

Recipients were nominated and selected by the Department for International Trade, with the awards presented at a gala in Stirling by Dr Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade.

ADL has successfully exported its double-decker and lightweight bus technology.

The company’s international revenues have grown seven-fold since 2007 and now account for close to 50% of ADL’s business.

ADL has used its success in Hong Kong to enter other markets in the Asia-Pacific region including Singapore, New Zealand and Malaysia.

In the United States and Canada, ADL has sold 1,000 double-deckers and is focusing on growing this further, with locally-manufactured double and single-decker vehicles.

Earlier this year, 90 double-decker buses entered service in Mexico City as part a landmark Latin American deal that was supported by the Government’s UK Export Finance agency. ADL added that a launch order from Switzerland has generated additional interest in continental Europe.

Accepting the award, Robert Davey, ADL Group Commercial & Business Development Director, commented: “We are pleased that our hard work in taking our best-in-class products and technology to a global audience is recognised with this Board of Trade Award.

“We are grateful for the Department for International Trade’s support in connecting us with stakeholders around the world and in facilitating finance solutions. With no shortage of opportunities, we look forward to continuing our international growth.”
