Harris Auto brings the new Higer Super 9XL midicoach to Rockingham for its UK launch, looking to gain market share with its dedicated coach chassis. James Day reports

Harris Auto hosted a Ride & Drive event at Rockingham Motor Speedway near Corby on Thursday, June 14. The company brought along a selection of LDV minibuses, including an electric version fresh off the production line, and three examples of a new midicoach for the UK and Ireland market.

The vehicle in question is the Higer Super 9XL. The XL in the name stands for extra long, and the vehicle has a 300mm longer body than the previous Super 9. The coach is built in Higer’s Suzhou plant, Shanghai.

The version of the vehicle on display has been designed by Harris Auto specifically for the UK and Ireland market, making use of a wider entrance and shifting the position of the handbrake and gearstick forward to be more easily accessible for the driver.
