ALEXANDER DENNIS

The move will create more space at its existing site for reorganisation and expansion of production lines

Alexander Dennis has taken on a lease for additional warehouse capacity at its Scarborough bus and coach manufacturing facility. This will allow the company to concentrate logistics for its Scarborough facility in the new 104,000 sq ft unit, which is being leased from Yorkshire-headquartered commercial property developer Eshton Group.

Located in close proximity to the manufacturer’s existing Scarborough site, the firm says the new warehouse will allow the rationalisation of all logistics for the factory, freeing up space to restructure production arrangements and increase capacity to meet growing demand for Alexander Dennis buses and Plaxton coaches.

Group Operations Director John Clougherty commented: “This is a major step forward for Alexander Dennis. The addition of substantial warehouse capacity in Scarborough is a crucial step in our modernisation journey. It mirrors the development activities underway at our sites in Falkirk and Larbert, consolidating site logistics to feed our production facilities on a just-in-time basis, freeing up the space necessary to support our process flow enhancement to drive significant improvements in capacity, quality and efficiency.”

The improvements in Scarborough are part of a wider programme of investment in Alexander Dennis’ production capabilities in the UK, which is also seeing two new production lines for the manufacturer’s next generation of zero-emission buses established at its headquarters in Larbert.
