Well-known London operator to take delivery of 10 Scania Interlink HD Finesse coaches during Spring 2017

London-based Anderson Travel has placed its first order for Scania coaches in a major deal which will see 10 Finesse specification Interlink HD coaches enter service with the company’s fleet during Spring 2017.

Based on Scania K 410 EB4x2 chassis with Scania’s 13-litre 410hp Euro 6 engine and fully automated Opticruise gear selection system, the order comprises: Six 12.4m overall length vehicles with 49 seats and centre toilet; Two 12.4m overall length vehicles with 53 seats; and two 12.8m overall length vehicles which will be converted to team coach specification.

All vehicles are built to Scania’s Finesse specification, with exclusive range seating with real leather and three-point seatbelts. Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels finish off the high-end specification, which includes aircraft-style locker doors and individual USB points for passengers.

Anderson Travel Director Mark Anderson commented: “After 30 years buying coaches, you tend not to get that excited when another new type enters the market. However, the first time I saw the new Scania Interlink I have to say even I, along with a number of my ‘hard nosed,’ tough-to-impress employees said – ‘wow.’

“Scania’s South East Regional Account Manager Richard Lawrie brought a demonstrator into our Tower Bridge depot and we all set about pulling it apart, taking it for a test run and generally going over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb. We loved it, so much so that after a couple of meetings we have now ordered 10 of them.

“The attention to detail Richard and Scania’s General Manager – Retail Sales Martin West have shown in fulfilling the order and managing the livery requests and other details of the order has shown the same level of attention to detail and expertise as Scania have shown in manufacturing the vehicle.”

For Scania, Martin West says: “Following the recent arrival of the first Interlink HD Finesse in the UK, the interest we have had in it has been keeping us very busy with quotations for next year and beyond. Anderson Travel’s commitment to the new product is a huge statement for the styling, flexibility and quality finish of the new member of the Scania family range of coaches. We are really looking forward to introducing the Interlink to the UK formally at Euro Bus Expo in November.”
