Anthony’s Travel Managing Partner Richard Bamber says the firm was delighted to receive the ‘Commitment to the Community’ award at the Halton Business Awards held on Friday 16 June 2023 in Widnes. The company said that whilst it has been fortunate enough to win numerous industry awards, it is proud to be a champion of community engagement in its local area.

Richard commented: “We are proud to be a family business at the heart of Halton. We have always believed that small businesses can make big differences in the locality they trade, and this is further testament to our commitment to the community. Locally owned businesses often have a far greater understanding of the challenges their catchment area faces and a wealth of local knowledge, its not simply about donating money, but using your time, resources, local knowledge and contacts to make a difference for others not just yourself.”

Anthony’s Travel was founded in 1985 by the late Tony Bamber and his wife Anne, who remains a partner of the company. Richard took over the day to day running of the business several years before Tony passed away in 2015. Richard’s wife Dawn is also a partner in the business, and his son Oliver has joined as an apprentice.

Richard added: “Since the formation of the business we always tried to assist in the community in whichever ways we could. It was often in an ad hoc way, but I formalised our approach to community engagement which we were told was unique for an SME. As result since 2011 we have collected six accolades for our approach to CSR/community engagement which are some of our proudest achievements.

“Anthony’s Travel’s tag line is ‘think globally act locally’ and hopefully our actions have had recognisable benefits for the surrounding area. It was also fantastic to hear of so many local businesses and individuals doing amazing things, we often only focus on the bad things that happen so it’s great to shine a positive light on people’s achievements.”
