On Monday 10 September, figures from across the bus industry attended the relaunch of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Road Passenger Transport Industry. Jonathan Welch reports

At a dinner hosted in Westminster by Mike Wood MP, key industry figures, interested parties, and of course politicians came together to relaunch the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Road Passenger Transport Industry (APPG). Over drinks and dinner, and enlightened with short speeches by Lord Snape and Sir Peter Hendy, guests had the opportunity to network and renew old acquaintances. The role of the APPG is to ensure that the industry has a voice in parliament, and at the forefront of discussion was the freshly-released CPT document ‘Moving Forward Together,’ a strategy which aims to increase partnerships between operators and authorities, setting out what the bus industry as a whole needs from Government to succeed, and what it expects in return for the not-inconsiderable investment made by private operators large and small across the country to keep people moving.
