The popular Bristol Harbourside bus rally, due to take place on Sunday, May 22 has been cancelled.

Organisers the Bristol Road Transport Collection (BRTC) explained the reasons for the move on its website www.bristolbusevents.co.uk : “We’ve been advised by Bristol City Council that the rally site is no longer available as the organisers of a large commercial event now wish to use the location over the same weekend. This is the second time that the rally has had to be cancelled at short notice due to the site being taken by another user.

“The organising committee have regrettably come to the conclusion that it will no longer be possible to provide such an event based in the city centre. The popular Harbourside Rally has been running since 1998 at Lloyds Amphitheatre, with free rides on vintage buses, combined with a display of vehicles both old and new. BRTC will continue actively to support other events in the area, and in due course, may seek an alternative site in the greater Bristol area.

“BRTC wishes to thank all of our loyal supporters, be they vehicle entrants, stall holders, volunteer marshalls and those who just enjoy riding on the buses. We regret any disappointment and inconvenience caused, and trust that all will understand why we have had to take this difficult decision.”
