An informal classic bus running day in Sheffield is expected to take place on March 1, with all donations going to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

The running day is expected to start at 1000hrs and finish at 1600hrs. Buses will travel between Norfolk Street Sheffield (at the side of the famous Crucible Theatre) , along Ecclesall Road to Ecclesall, Dore and the Fox House (on the edge of the Peak District).

Organiser Glynne Pegg told CBW he ran Rotherham & District Bus & Coach in the early days of bus deregulation.

“The initial impetus was to note the 25th anniversary of our starting to run Routemasters along Ecclesall Road in Sheffield,” he said. “Unfortunately, my mother became ill and passed away. This delayed plans, but we will now be giving any donations to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

“I acknowledge that March 1 is short notice, but it is a date which is convenient for our team and some vehicle owners. We have already been offered a lovely mix of classic buses and coaches, and any vehicle owners are welcome to get involved as are any volunteers.”
