CMA approves Lothian’s First Scotland East takeover

The Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared the acquisition of the east coast operations of First Scotland East by East Coast Buses Ltd.

East Coast Buses is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lothian Buses Ltd. The CMA announced its decision on Monday, January 23.

Richard Hall, Managing Director of Lothian Buses, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the CMA decision.

“We know that thousands of residents, workers and the economy of East Lothian rely on public transport for their daily lives and well-being. East Coast Buses Ltd is now in a position to build on its original service offering and make further investment in its people.”
