Skills Coaches and Westway Coach Services receive high-spec Enviro400 MMCs
Two coach operators have invested in new double-decker buses from Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) for use on their school and corporate services.
Westway Coach Services of West Mosley, Surrey, has received a pair of ADL Enviro400 MMC 82-seaters, while Skills Coaches of Nottinghamshire acquired an 85-seater Enviro400 MMC.
Both operators elected for a high specification on their buses, with Westway choosing wood-effect flooring, leather seats, USB chargers, tinted windows, air-conditioning under seat LED lighting and CCTV.
Meanwhile, Skills’ new Enviro400 includes high-back Lazzerini seats, three-point seatbelts, PA system, WiFi, CCTV and alloy wheels.
The 11.5m vehicles are powered by Cummins six-cylinder engines, coupled to ZF gearboxes.
David West, Managing Director of Westway Coach Services, said: “We live in an age when people are used to luxury cars and expect nothing but the best.
“That applies to school children as much as corporate clients – but, in the former’s case, they tend to travel in much bigger numbers.
“Matching capacity and comfort was therefore critical and we worked closely to resolve the issue with ADL.
“The vehicles have been a huge success with both school groups and corporate clients and I believe we have struck the perfect balance, providing coach-like comfort while retaining the capacity required by many clients.”
Alongside its Enviro400, Skills also took delivery of a Plaxton Leopard-bodied Volvo B8. The 12.8m Euro 6 coach with I-Shift transmission carries 72 passenger seats.
Nigel Skill, Managing Director, commented: “The business continues to spread its wings and we now operate extensively across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire, providing service runs, corporate contracts, day trips, luxury tours, group travel and event support.
“We pride ourselves in offering class-leading holidays in the UK and Continental Europe and, whether supporting activities at home or abroad, our aim is to continuously offer leading-edge, stylish, best-in-class vehicles. In that respect both the new Enviro400 and the Plaxton Leopard fit the bill perfectly.”
