The UK Coach Rally 2017 has a waiting list of entrants – despite increasing capacity for next year’s event, organisers have told CBW. It comes at the same time that the date has now been officially confirmed – the weekend of May 6-7.
Ann Cousins, who leads the organising team with her husband Paul told CBW: “We were delighted with the positive response to this year’s event and look forward to hosting the rally on Blackpool Promenade for the second time.
“2017 is set to be the biggest year yet, as an increased number of coach companies have already registered to be involved. We have increased the number of entries from 50 to 55, and we still have a waiting list – which currently stands at three.”
Ann also revealed operators who have conformed for 2017 include “several new faces.”
She continued: “The move to Blackpool has been welcomed by all. It’s meant the rally has really taken off again. Staff from VisitBlackpool (sic), the tourism organisation, have made it clear they want the rally to be held in the town. They’re full of enthusiasm – they’ve even been talking to us about ideas for 2019.
“Merlin Entertainments, who operate Blackpool Tower, have also been doing everything they can to ensure we’re happy and that the rally can run as smoothly as possible.”
As for accommodation, Ann said: “Imperial Hotel have informed us they have availability for that weekend. Information on hotels can be found on our website.”
The UK Coach Rally welcomes all sections of the coaching industry gathering together for a series of exhibitions and awards including Coach of the Year and Coach Driver of the Year.
