CPT has teamed up with Go-Ahead London to provide an extra 30 coach parking spaces per day in central London this spring for a trial period.
Starting on Monday, May 16, 30 coach parking spaces will be available to CPT Members between Monday and Friday at Go-Ahead’s Camberwell (20) and Stockwell (10) bus depots for a six-week trial period (ends Friday 24 June).
The organisation claimed that this would offer 1,000 spaces over the course of the Spring, though the initial figure is 900 (30 spaces multiplied by 30 days). A CPT spokesman did tell CBW that there is likely to be some additional availability beyond the initially announced 30 days which would take the figure to the 1,000 mark.
As exclusively reported in CBW at the time, CPT CEO Simon Posner revealed imminent at the recent London Coach Parking Map launch on April 14.
The coach parking facilities, which are just a couple of miles from many of the capital’s key tourist attractions, will be open from 0900 – 1700hrs, Monday to Friday and charged at £35 per day, plus an administration charge of £1.50 and VAT.
Members wishing to book parking at Go-Ahead’s Camberwell or Stockwell depots can do so by calling the dedicated credit card hotline on 020 7257 2507, or contacting [email protected]. This line is open from 1000 – 1600hrs Monday to Friday.
Same day bookings will not be accepted. All payments must be made in advance and operators using the parking facilities must adhere to the terms and conditions set out by Go-Ahead.
Camberwell Garage is located on Warner Road, with the postcode SE5 9LU, while Stockwell Garage can be found on Binfield Road at SW4 6ST.
Speaking about the six-week trial, CPT’s Chief Executive, Simon Posner, said: “I am delighted that we have reached an agreement with Go-Ahead to provide CPT Members with an extra 30 coach parking spaces each day in London at a time when other facilities are either being removed or having restrictions placed on them.
“Coach parking and the picking-up and setting-down passengers has long been a contentious issue for operators visiting the Capital, and I hope this announcement goes some way to addressing their concerns whilst also ensuring that coaches can continue to operate in this great city.
“I am confident that a successful 6-week trial will be the catalyst for further initiatives and we will certainly be looking to make the arrangement with Go-Ahead at Camberwell and Stockwell a permanent one.
Posner concluded: “I hope that CPT Members will take advantage of the coach parking spaces on offer and I look forward to receiving their feedback on both the facility provided and the payment and booking system.”
CPT hopes that following a successful trial of these new coach parking facilities an online booking and payment system will be introduced in order to make the whole process easier.
