CT4N, the commercial arm of Nottingham Community Transport, has announced it is to take over route 18 from Trent Barton on 1 October. This will be the company’s first commercial service.
Operating between Stapleford, Beeston, Rylands, Queen’s Medical Centre and the city centre, the service was due to be withdrawn next month.
CT4N said that the loss of the number 18 bus would have left those in the Melbourne Road area of Stapleford and Beeston Rylands without any alternative public transport, hence its decision to continue running it.
CT4N Managing Director, Ian Combellack, commented: “We’re aware that service 18 provides valuable transport links for many people in the area.
“Our new service aims to maintain these links, especially for people who rely on public transport to go to work, shopping and leisure activities.
“Our friendly drivers are looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers when we launch the service.”
CT4N currently operates a number of contracted services, including Medilink, Centrelink, Ecolink and all Locallink services.
When the route passes into the control of CT4N, the timetable will continue mostly unchanged; buses will run every 30 minutes in Beeston Rylands and hourly to Stapleford.
There are no current plans to replace the evening service, and Trent Barton will continue to operate the 20 on Sundays.
Fares will remain ‘similar’ to those currently in place, with further details to be confirmed in September. A timetable is now available at www.ct4n.co.uk.
