Cameras clicking and smiles are as wide as Yorkshire’s broad acres – this was the launch of new DalesBus service 821, the ‘Nidderdale Rambler’. Run under contract by Transdev subsidiary The Keighley Bus Company, the 821 travels between Keighley, Otley, Pateley Bridge and the remote-yet-beautiful Scar House – a walkers’ paradise in upper Nidderdale. Leeds North West MP Alex Sobel, whose constituency includes Otley, emerged from the throng boarding the gleaming Optare Solo operating the Rambler: “It’s an amazing service and absolutely vital for people without access to a car,” he said. “DalesBus receives no statutory funding, half the money they get is from fares and the other half they raise themselves in different ways. I intend to put a Bill down in Parliament to support access to all our National Parks.” […]
