South Wales-based Edwards Coaches has been named as a finalist in the inaugural Wales Transport Awards. The family firm, which has been in operation since 1925 and is now in the hands of the fifth generation, has been nominated in the ‘Livery of the Year’ and ‘Transport Operator of the Year’ categories.
In the former category, Edwards submitted designs for their new local buses as well as their Red Dragon coach, used for transporting the Wales rugby team. The latter category aims to recognise operators with excellent standards across the board. Finalists were asked to submit reasons that they should win the award, as well as the effects a win would have on their business, and the next stage will be a presentation to a panel of judges.
Managing Director, Jason Edwards FCILT said: “It is always a huge honour to be shortlisted for any award but the Wales Transport Awards are particularly special due to their commitment to the industry. Edwards has been an integral part of the South Wales community for 94 years, ensuring that residents have access to local facilities as well as the opportunity to enjoy their well-deserved holidays. To be nominated in the first ever Wales Transport Awards is as much recognition for our customers’ continued support as it is for us.”
