Double-decker Postbuses started running to the Swiss village of Iseltwald from early June following a sharp increase in demand for travel to the village in the wake of Netflix drama series ‘Crash Landing on You’ which has become popular in South Korea. The filming location of Iseltwald on Lake Brienz, has become a tourist hotspot, with more and more people flocking to the village. Since 2022, PostBus has expanded its timetable, and with the tourist boom expected to continue, PostBus started an express service from 1 June and deployed a double-decker bus to help cope with demand.

An Alexander Dennis Enviro500, as used on some long-distance commuter routes in Eastern Switzerland, is operating some journeys to Iseltwald, where the jetty was the filming location for a pivotal romance scene in the TV drama. Postbus said that by travelling to Lake Brienz by public transport, visitors have less of an impact on the little village’s infrastructure, which only has a limited number of parking spaces. The operator reports that on busy days, about 2,000 passengers are using the Iseltwald route, which is why it decided to put on 10 additional express services to relieve pressure on its route 103.

The Enviro500 has a capacity of up to 120 passengers, around 25% more than the buses currently in use. The new timetable will offer 31 services to and from Iseltwald per day on weekdays, and as many as 34 at the weekend, doubling bus provision to the village.
