First Bristol Lawrence open day

First West of England will host a combined community open day and recruitment event at its Lawrence Hill depot in Bristol between 1100 and 1500hrs on Saturday, August 19.

First said it is looking to fill around 40 driver vacancies with people who have a flair for customer service, and who perhaps fancy a change from working in the retail sector. During the event, staff will be on hand to talk to potential applicants about the career opportunities, as well as providing them with an insight into what the job is really about. First said applicants don’t have to already have be PCV licence holders – training can be provided.

Visitors will be given the opportunity to drive a training bus around the yard. However, they must be over 18, hold a valid UK or EU Cat B (car) driving licence and be fit to drive. Participants must also have no more than three points on their licence and no drink, drug, mobile phone or reckless/dangerous driving offences. Spaces will be on a first come, first serve basis and all drivers will be breathalyzed before driving.

Other attractions at the open day will include a depot tour, a display of vintage and modern buses, face painting for a £2 donation and a ride through the bus wash at 50p donation per person. A play buys provided will also be in attendance a 30-minute session costing 50p per child. All proceeds will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
