Restored service will run seven days a week, stopping right outside the terminal building Arriva the Shires (ATS), responsible for the Green Line services operating from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, has announced the recommencement of its flagship service, Green Line 757, operating between London Luton Airport and London Victoria.
The recommencement follows a high court judgement and absence from the Airport for 10 months. The high court ruled there was no apparent reason for Green Line to be restricted from using the airport and thereby put at a competitive disadvantage to National Express and easyBus (full story in CBW1123).
Paul Adcock, Area Managing Director commented: “We welcome the outcome of the case and for the judgement given by Justice Rose. Green Line has more than 30 years’ experience providing services from Luton Airport and we remain focused on developing our services so we can deliver quality opportunities for passengers wanting to travel between Luton and London.
“The decision by the court of granting us a temporary injunction to restore our service is extremely good news and we look forwarding to recommencing our service on Sunday, March 2.
“Our staff are completely committed to providing a first class service to people travelling to and from Luton Airport and we look forward to working with London Luton Airport Operations Ltd again and assisting them achieving their plans in growing passenger numbers.
“Any further legal hearings and trials are a matter for the court and we just want to focus on restoring the Green Line 757 service over the coming weeks and months.”
With it being a temporary injunction, CBW asked London Luton Airport Operations (LLAO) how long (as in weeks, months etc.) it is expected Green Line services will be allowed to serve the airport bus station. A spokesperson replied: “We are considering the implications of the ruling on service provision, and are currently unable to say at this stage how long the injunction might be in place for.”
The service will operate seven days a week and will drop off and collect customers from right outside the terminal building. It also stops at several convenient locations in London, enabling customers to quickly access the London transport network, hotels and tourist attractions.
The change to the service does not affect the current operation and all journeys aimed at commuters are still in place with three additional journeys added to the timetable meaning some commuters no longer need to change coach in Luton town centre and can travel direct to London.
