The Transport Select Committee visited Liverpool last week to hold an evidence session on the health of bus services in the region. Peter Jackson recaps the key moments

After arriving at Merseytravel HQ via ArrivaClick Sprinter, the Transport Select Committee quizzed three key players in the area’s bus market on how services are developed and run through the Liverpool City Region Bus Alliance.

Formed by Arriva and Stagecoach – along with local transport body Merseytravel – the Alliance was launched back in December of 2015. Back then, goals were set to grow the number of passenger journeys by 10% by April 2017, increase the level of investment in new and greener vehicles and review the City Region’s bus network to make it easier to understand, amongst others.
