On Friday, December 23 2016 Essex-based Hedingham will operate a Volvo Olympian on relief journeys on service 87 between Brightlingsea and Colchester. Fares taken on the Olympian will be given to a local charity.
The Olympian bus type has served Hedingham buses well since the first one was bought new in 1990. Since then Olympians (both Leyland and Volvo) have been operated with various body types, engines and gearboxes.
There are currently 10 in service with the company, which will be withdrawn at the end of the year due to PSVAR regulations.
The following 87 journeys will be duplicated:
- 0902 from Brightlingsea;
- 1005 from Colchester;
- 1102 from Brightlingsea;
- 1305 from Colchester;
- 1402 from Brightlingsea;
- 1505 from Colchester; and
- 1602 from Brightlingsea
Standard fares will apply including the Hedingham Anywhere Day ticket at £7.
