It was a sunny spring afternoon as I drove onto an industrial estate on the outskirts of Rotherham. Anyone passing through the town by train will likely have spotted the small green steam locomotive that sits outside the otherwise unassuming premises of the South Yorkshire Transport Museum (SYTM), housed in a modern unit alongside the railway line. As I arrived, a smart Sheffield double-decker was sitting by the entrance dressed for a wedding, and a very smart SYT Coachline-liveried Plaxton-bodied Dennis Dorchester was parked in front of the building.
