Jonathan Welch speaks to the team behind CheckedSafe, which aims to improve road safety and prevent incidents caused by poor checking of vehicles

We all know it has to be done. Come rain or shine, a driver has to do his walk-around checks before he sets off. Some are thorough, some do it begrudgingly and see it as a nuisance to be overcome before they can escape the depot yard. The PCV industry has a generally excellent safety record, and reports of vehicles found in dangerous condition are thankfully rare. But that’s not to say we should stop striving for improvement or to make things safer still.

And that’s where CheckedSafe comes in. Aimed at drivers and fleet managers, the app-based software allows drivers to perform their walk-around checks efficiently and at the same time not only provides real-time feedback to the office, but allows transport managers to monitor that checks are being carried out properly, a vital component in operator licensing requirements.
