Kent County Council has confirmed it is pulling out of its bus and coach operation Kent Top Travel (KTT) following the actions of Operations Manager Gavin Grant who set up a successor company Kent Top Travel Ltd.
As part of the move, the Canterbury P&R services have transferred to Stagecoach as KTT shed its remaining commitment.
Kent Business reported that Gavin Grant, who founded the new firm in January, has been suspended pending further inquiries after sending an email to clients served by the existing operations in which he told them he would “remain” as Operations Manager.
He said: “We are therefore happy to announce we can offer a continuity of service to all of our clients. As we move forward, we will ensure that not only do we provide continuity, but you will see an improvement in the services.”
A KCC spokesman said: “No part of KTT, its staff or vehicles will transfer to Grant nor will any of its contracts be given to him. Contracts have and will continue to be competed for on the open market.”
