Lothian Buses was among the bus operators to take home accolades at this year’s Scottish Transport Awards, receiving two awards
Lothian Buses says it is delighted to have taken home two awards at this year’s Scottish Transport Awards (STAs), held in Glasgow on 22 June. The first award for the operator on the night was the Excellence in Transport Accessibility award, which recognises improved access to travel or the travel experience for disabled people. The second award – Excellence in Innovation and Technology – reflects how a new technology or a new way of working has produced outstanding results.
Last year, Lothian began developing a web-based database system for tracking roadworks and events across its bus network. Previously, a spreadsheet was used to show all active roadworks, which the firm said was difficult to maintain given the increasing amount of active roadworks occurring across the network. Its ‘LB Roads’ project was born in collaboration with its Commercial and Information Infrastructure teams, and provides driving staff a quick way of accessing information that may affect them while they are out on service.
Sarah Boyd, Managing Director of Lothian, said: “It’s a testament to the hard work, passion and talent of our colleagues that we were able to take home two trophies at the STAs. Our teams’ commitment to ‘getting it right’ for our customers clearly resonated with the judges who presented Lothian with the Excellence in Transport Accessibility Award.
“We were delighted to also receive the Excellence in Innovation and Technology Award for LB Roads which has streamlined the way in which our colleagues access vital information about the network while on the move. I would like to thank every colleague who helped make this possible.”
