McGill’s Buses has guaranteed to offer an interview to any Amazon staff made redundant after Amazon announced plans to close its distribution centre in Gourock with the potential loss of around 300 jobs. McGill’s has its head office in nearby Greenock. McGill’s co-owner Sandy Easdale said: “This week’s news was extremely disappointing not only for the employees and their families, but also for the Inverclyde economy as a whole. In an attempt to show our support to those at risk, the McGill’s Group is offering a guaranteed interview for those who are looking for new opportunities. We have a range of roles available across our three depots at Greenock, Inchinnan and Johnstone which may be of interest to those at risk whose skills could be easily transferable.”
