BK Invest of Sweden to distribute left-hand drive Orion E, Strata and Tucana II models in Sweden, Norway and Denmark

Mellor Coachcraft has announced the signing of a new distributorship agreement with BK Invest Sweden.

The deal gives BK Invest exclusive sales rights for the Scandinavian region – namely Sweden, Norway and Denmark – and covers all of Mellor Coachcraft’s left hand drive products. These include the recently launched fully low-floor electric Orion E, plus the standard Orion, the Strata High Floor and Low Floor models and the Tucana II.

In addition to sales, BK Invest will also be handling all aftersales and service on Mellor’s behalf with Scandinavian customers.

John Randerson, Managing Director for Mellor Coachcraft, said: “It is very exciting to be signing this new distributorship agreement with BK Invest, our first international deal, as it heralds the start of our drive to expand our business into European markets.

“We believe BK Invest to be an excellent fit with Mellor, as it not only has a similar philosophy and approach to business, while sharing our environmental values, but it also represents other UK bus manufacturers in the Scandinavian market. In particular, it has a proven track record with sales and aftersales for both the private and public sectors in these regions.

“With the Scandinavian countries being very committed to environmental principles, they already enjoy a buoyant electric vehicle market. We were impressed with BK Invest’s understanding of the specialised nuances of this sector, as well as their project by project approach to the introduction of electric buses, particularly with customers with relatively low experience of operating vehicles using this new technology.

“The company has a small, but highly skilled and dedicated bus sales team, which is experienced in both electric and diesel vehicles and we are confident they will prove to be an excellent partner for Mellor as we strive to make an impact on the Scandinavian market.”

Margareta Lundqvist, Managing Director of BK Invest, said: “We are pleased to be representing Mellor and its exciting range of vehicles in Scandinavia, which we believe presents a great opportunity for both companies, and we look forward to a long and mutually successful relationship with them.

“In addition to sales, our team of highly skilled engineers at our Henån workshops will be providing aftersales in conjunction with our mobile support services, which is vital if we are to establish and grow market share for Mellor in Scandinavia.”

John Randerson added: “We will be exhibiting at Busworld Kortrijk for the first time this year and representatives from BK Invest will be joining us on stand 919A in hall nine. We look forward to meeting with new customers and to telling them about our latest innovative range of products, particularly the Orion E, which will be taking centre stage at the show.”

Based in Henån, Sweden, BK Invest sells and rents a wide range of commercial vehicles including buses, trucks and trailers. The company also offers a range of leasing options to their customers as part of their service.
