AUSTRALIA
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will not be selling any new products in Australia for the foreseeable future, reports Australian trade magazine Australasian Bus & Coach (ABC). The manufacturer confirmed to ABC that it is pausing operations and the sales of new Mercedes-Benz bus and coach products in the local market for the foreseeable future, although its associated Fuso brand will remain unaffected.
Reports suggest that some staff have been made redundant, although Mercedes-Benz Buses said it will retain a ‘solid ongoing presence’ in the country to provide existing owners with service, spare parts and technical support for years to come, as well as continuing to delivering vehicles which have already been ordered. The local Mercedes-Benz Bus dealership network will also continue to provide service support for customers.
Mercedes-Benz Buses explained that the sales pause is as a result of the marque not having suitable products available for the region. The manufacturer told ABC: “Mercedes-Benz Bus prides itself on delivering best-in-class products that meet the very specific requirements of our market. With no such new products available in the foreseeable future, we had no choice but to pause local sales.”
