The CPT has announced that senior industry figure Steve Whiteway will be its President for 2020. Steve, who was unanimously voted in by fellow members of the CPT Council, will officially take over the presidency – a position he held back in 2010/11 – from Martin Dean on Thursday 30 January.

Speaking on his appointment, Steve said: “I am honoured to have been appointed CPT President for 2020 by my industry colleagues. As a long-standing CPT member and having spent a lifetime in buses and coaches, I know that 2020 will present another challenging year for our industry.

“I believe the best way to address the challenges we face is by working together with industry partners and stakeholders, and CPT’s recently launched bus strategy, along with the forthcoming vision for coaches, provides the ideal platform for us to highlight the valuable contribution the industry makes to society.”

CPT Chief Executive, Graham Vidler, added: “I am delighted that Steve has agreed to take on the role of CPT President and also that Martin will continue as Chairman of the organisation.

“Along with the CPT team, I very much look forward to working closely with them as we continue to represent the interests of our members whilst further raising the profile of buses and coaches across UK governments and the media.”
