£2.5m fleet enters service on July 4, which the operator says is the best way to savour the picturesque journey through the Lake District
Stagecoach North West has unveiled 12 new buses to be used on the company’s 555 route, which entered service on July 4, 2016.
The ADL Enviro400MMCs feature a bespoke Lakes Connection livery created by Best Impressions, which features promotional rears outside and murals of Lakeland scenes and more inside.
The launch coincided with an increased timetable with more frequent services and represents an investment of £2.5m.
Each bus features free WiFi, USB charging points, and is designed to be wheelchair and buggy accessible.
Matthew Cranwell, Managing Director at Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “We are really excited about launching our new and enhanced vehicles which will continue to provide an essential service for the many visitors who use public transport during their holiday.
“As many will appreciate this is a journey which can only truly be savoured when you’re not stuck behind the wheel yourself – so those who travel on the new ‘555 Lakes Connection’ service are in for a real treat with this truly first class experience.”
Ray Stenning, Design Director at Best Impressions, said: “My team pulled out all the stops to make this route through the spine of the Lake District really resonate with the area it serves and promote the bus as the best way to experience these gorgeous landscapes and attractions.
“It oozes Lake District style and class and will look magnificent in that magnificent scenery.”
