Pontefract-based operator Poppletons has welcomed two new MAN coaches to its fleet in recent weeks – a 43-seat Beulas Spica 3 and a 70-seat MOBIpeople Explorer.
The MOBIpeople coach was bought especially for the operator’s Pontefract College route from Leyland-based dealer B.A.S.E Coach Sales. The 12.5m vehicle is based on MAN’s RR8 chassis, powered by a 290bhp Euro engine, coupled to a ZF Ecolife automatic gearbox.
Inside, the coach is equipped with 70 Prime Buckingham seats, with three-point seatbelts, tinted windows and air-conditioning for passenger comfort. For accessibility, it has dual nearside doors and is also benefits from eight cubic metres of luggage space.
Nigel Poppleton, of Frank Poppleton & Co, told CBW: “The dual-door is an important feature as it allows passengers to exit quickly. The vehicle has additional width and plenty of legroom – which are essential for transporting students comfortably.”
Nick Dodgson, from B.A.S.E Coach Sales, commented: “The acquisition of this coach is a continuation of Poppletons’ ongoing relationship with MAN – and it is also the first Euro 6 in the fleet. The feedback has been very positive so far and the customer is very happy with the vehicle.”
Asked why he likes MAN-based coaches, Nigel replied: “We believe that MAN provide excellent quality and are good value for money. It is the third vehicle we have purchased from B.A.S.E and as always, the team there were extremely attentive and helpful.”
Poppletons’ Beulas Spica 3 coach arrived three weeks ago from Moseley PCV, which is based in nearby South Elmsall. The coach features all the refinements one would expect on a an executive vehicles – including air-conditioning, a WC, double-glazing and Bosch Professional Line Audio Visual Equipment.
Nigel said he is also “delighted” with the service he receives from Moseley PCV, in particular Lee McMahon, the local sales manager.
