Nordic operator Nobina has ordered four new Sigma 7 electric buses from Mellor, with deliveries expected to take place in November through Mellor’s Swedish distributor BK Invest. The firm’s partnership with BK Invest has already seem Mellor products delivered in the region for over five years, and given Mellor a reputation for reliable sales, service and customer support.

The seven-metre battery electric low-floor buses are destined for operation on Nobina’s route T22 in Gothenburg’s Angered and Bergsjön districts on services operated for the Västtrafic regional transport authority. At seven metres in length and 2.1 metres wide, the new Sigma 7s provide an ideal e-mobility solution for Nobina’s new inner-city CMAL city minibus operation.

Nobina said the Sigma 7 will meet important and growing demand for flexible operations and reports that it is confident the new model will deliver reliable and stable operation resulting in more opportunities for Mellor and its Sigma range in the region.

Mellor added that it has received considerable interest from other major bus operators in mainland Europe with 49 confirmed orders in Scandinavia and German-speaking regions. Gustavo Marqueta, Group Business Development Director at Mellor, said: “We are delighted to have partnered Nobina with this first order for Sigma into the Swedish Market. We have been delivering buses in the Swedish market through BK Invest for over five years now. The Sigma 7 is the result of an incredible amount of research conducted in Sweden that will provide a best-in-class passenger experience to Västtrafic passengers at a level not previously possible on traditional van-derived products adapted for accessible bus use.”
