Llandudno-based Alpine Travel has further expanded operations by acquiring Abacab Coaches of Conwy, to facilitate the retirement of the current owners.

Alpine Travel Abacab Coaches was formed in 1987 by Chris and Denise Jones and specialises in coach hire, travelling throughout Wales and the UK.

Commenting on the sale to Alpine Travel on the company’s website, Chris Jones said: “Having dedicated the vast proportion of our professional lives growing Abacab Coaches into one of the regions premier coach businesses, when the time came to retire, Denise & I believed that Chris & the team at Alpine would be the perfect people to continue with & maintain the excellent standards that our customers expect, whilst providing long term job security for our fantastic drivers.”

Chris Owens, Alpine Travel commented “Abacab has been in discussion with Alpine Travel since making the decision to retire earlier this year, and I am delighted to have been approached and look forward to continuing the excellent service they have been providing to their customers for many years.

“The Abacab staff and fleet will now be based from our Llandudno depot and for the loyal customers of Abacab they will not see a change in the excellent service they currently enjoy, but will have access to the largest independent coach tour operator in North Wales, and we hope to be able to support them with even more services.”

Alpine Travel has grown to be North Wales largest independently owned coach operator through acquisition and expanding into new markets as opportunities allowed, in recent years it has acquired Silver Star Holidays in Caernarfon and Jones Holidays of Flint.
