The chairman of one of the South East’s most respected operators has fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition to own a Bedford OB, reports Nick Larkin

Clive Eglinton of Sittingbourne, Kent-based Chalkwell has many happy memories of an example his father bought new, and is now the new proud owner of 1949 Duple-bodied coach LYB941, which has been sent to Cobus in East Yorkshire for restoration. Clive’s love for OBs was inspired by his father, Harry, who who grew up in Bethnal Green, London, and founded Island Luxury Coaches in Sheerness, Kent in 1931, before later moving to Sittingbourne.
