Over 350 guests attended the event

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) held its annual awards ceremony last week, paying tribute to ‘the very best professionals, organisations and operators’ from the logistics and transport industries.

Held at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on Thursday 18 October, the event saw over 350 guests, delegates and finalists attend to celebrate outstanding achievements made during 2018 across nine different industry sectors.

Hosting the awards this year was musician, journalist, broadcaster and Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Reverend Richard Coles.

Robin Proctor, CILT (UK) President, presented all of the awards bar the Sir Robert Lawrence Award award for outstanding achievement, which was presented by Tim Slater, Chief Executive, NHS Supply Chain for DHL.

The winners in the transport sector were:
• Diversity Champion: Jane Desmond, Operations Director at HCT Group
• Environmental Improvement: Optare
• Passenger Transport Best Practice: Liberty Bus
• Technology Innovation: r2c online

Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive of the CILT, said: “The CILT Annual Awards for Excellence are the ultimate seal of approval for all those involved in the movement of goods and people.

“Recognition and reward is vital if we are to promote innovation; the key for building a future for our profession relies on us all recognising and celebrating outstanding achievements in our profession.

“There are so many good things happening and good people working within our profession, it’s vital that we embrace this success and raise awareness of the significance of our sectors, as we move into an uncertain and challenging post-Brexit world.”
