Whippet service X3 that serves Papworth was due to be withdrawn next month but has now been saved after South Cambridgeshire’s MP Heidi Allen plea for a £10,000 grant from South Cambridgeshire District Council and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

Heidi Allen’s plea was also backed up by a petition started by 17-year-old Grace Fisher from the village, which reached 2,000 signatures.

Busway route C is due to end operation on Friday 9 November but on the 17 and 19 October Whippet posted on Twitter that they were unable to operate 19 departures on service C on both dates due to staff sickness, causing a backlash from customers on Twitter in response.
