Racing driver Gavin Johnson has joined forces with PDC Racing to race in the 2017 BRSCC Toyo Tyres Porsche Championship, and the team has received sponsorship from Runcorn-based Anthony’s Travel.

Johnson, 35, moved to a new team with teammate Pip Hammond to run two Porsche 924`s, targeting the title in the national Porsche championship this year. The decision was made to run two cars when Johnson met with Richard Bamber, Director of Anthony’s Travel.

Ricahrd took up the story: “As a business, we are keen to help local people and projects develop to their potential, we felt with Gavin and PDC we could help support that.

“We look forward to working with PDC to increase the awareness of our business and our message and to help them move forward with their championship campaign.”

Richard continued: “In our chats with Gavin, it was evident practice makes perfect and in racing that’s track time.
“Our support enables the team to prepare as well as possible for the early part of their season and increases the possibility of their success.”

The season commenced on March 25, 2017, at Oulton Park circuit near Taporley, Cheshire, with Gavin Johnson beating the lap record before teammate Pip Hammond beat it further. Both drivers took a podium in the two races.

Looking ahead to the season, Gavin Johnson enthused: “2017 sees us team up with the Wood family at PDC to put all we learnt to good use. We are delighted to be able to put two cars on the grid for this year and are looking forward to some great racing.”
