First Bus owned RailAir is increasing the frequency of its RailAir 1 service between Reading and Heathrow Airport. From 30 June, the RA1 has increased to operate every 20 minutes on Mondays to Saturdays, instead of every 30 minutes, in response to growing demand, the operator says.

The service has been operating since 1967, and is currently operated by First Bus South, which has invested over £2m in nine new coaches to support the expansion of services.

Managing Director at First Bus South Simon Goff said: “We are excited to offer even more frequent journeys to our ever popular RA1 service, ensuring that passengers from Reading have even more choice and easy access to Heathrow Airport. The beauty of the service is total flexibility, either pre book, or just jump on the next service and pay the driver.

“The increase in RA1 services reflects our commitment to meet growing demand while also enhancing the travel experience for our customers. It’s a hassle free way to get to Heathrow, providing a sustainable alternative for passengers and those working at the airport, potentially saving thousands of car journeys every year. “
