FRANCE One of the principal development projects in the Paris region is that RATP’s entire fleet of 4,500 buses will be electric or renewable gas and non-fossil fuelled by 2025. Another is the first section of the Grand Paris Express comprising 127 miles of fully-automated metro with 68 new stations, due to open by 2019. Also there’s successfully growing Autolib’ the world’s largest car sharing service for electric vehicles – there were 3,000 cars served by 5,000 charging points by 2014 – and further developing BlaBlaCar, a leading ride-sharing reservation service. The Mayor of Paris also plans to double the total lengthy of bike paths from 435 miles to 870 miles. 10,000 bike parking spaces are planned.
