A new scheme is set to recognise employees who have done something special this year
“2020 hasn’t exactly been a ‘gem’ of a year,” says Reading Buses, “but there are people whose performances have been ‘gems’, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic.” The company says it wants to thank and recognise its employees who have done something special, and has announced the launch of its GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Awards, a scheme designed especially for 2020.
The operator has invited employees, managers and customers to nominate someone in the company who they think has made a difference during the challenging year before 2 December.
Robert Williams, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We simply couldn’t let 2020 pass without thanking – and recognising – the hard work and dedication of our wonderful employees. We’re looking for nominations for anyone that a customer, employee or manager thinks has done something that little bit special during 2020.
“It may be someone who has given support when you needed it; a great example of teamwork; someone who has worked tirelessly to keep things going; or someone who has done something for the local community whilst we have been in lockdown.
“For customers they can nominate any of our amazing employees who have gone the extra mile to make your journey amazing; dazzled you with their kindness; gone beyond the call of duty; or done something remarkable.
“Whether it is a driver who is always cheery and brightens your day; a member of our customer service team who has been a huge help, an excellent engineer or one of our team doing great things – why not nominate them to show them what an excellent job they have been doing.”
