Scania Bridgwater’s brand-new state-of-the-art service centre was officially inaugurated on Wednesday 5 December 2018 by His Excellency Mr Torbjörn Sohlström, Sweden’s Ambassador to the UK.
A total of £5.3m has been invested in the centre, which employs 27 staff. The site, which includes 11 work bays, has been built in compliance with Scania’s global dealership template for efficient and sustainable dealer premises.
The centre includes a purpose-built recycling centre, secure parking for up to 42 HGVs and 51 cars, and provides a full range of all-makes servicing, repair, maintenance and parts services.
Managing Director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited, Martin Hay, said: “This opening is especially personal for me, as I was involved with the very first opening of Bridgwater in September 1995. I’m extremely proud to see how it has developed.
“It shows that through loyal customers and dedicated staff just what can be achieved. We have every confidence that Scania Bridgwater will continue to provide a fantastic service in the future.”
The development of Scania Bridgwater will also see the implementation of an environmental management plan to ensure the preservation of the surrounding wildlife. Accompanying this are plans to further improve energy efficiency through the installation of radiant panels and air-source heat pumps.
Scania Bridgwater General Manager, Nigel Champion, added: “Our new location will enable us to continue to achieve the high levels of customer service that we are associated with. The new location will provide more space for vehicles to manoeuvre and reduce congestion and enable us to not only keep up with service demand, but grow the business too.
“We look forward to welcoming all of our customers to our new facility.”
