Electric order secured by Polish manufacturer after delivery of diesel bus in 2017
Bascharage-based Sales-Lentz has ordered five electric buses from Solaris.
The Polish-based manufacturer commenced its cooperation with the operator last year when it delivered its first vehicle to Luxembourg.
Having ordered a bus with a conventional combustion engine back then, this time the customer went for a zero-emission vehicle. Solaris will deliver two 12m buses in March 2019, and another three that are articulated and 18m long in June.
The artics will be propelled by a 240kW central traction engine and the energy storage system will comprise Solaris high energy batteries with a total capacity of 240kWh.
It will be possible to charge the buses by either a plug-in connector or via a roof-mounted pantograph. Of 43 passenger seats in the saloon, 16 will be accessible from the low-floor area.
Drive for the 12m buses will come from an electric portal axle with two 125kWh integrated electric motors. Again, 240kWh Solaris high energy batteries will be used and there will be similar charging options – plug-in connector or a pantograph. Each bus will seat 38.
