London Bus Museum’s Spring Gathering was a great success despite fuel fears. NICK LARKIN looks at the heritage side of the event.
Difficulties in finding fuel, and the cost of it when discovered, seemed to have little effect on the 2022 London Bus Museum Spring Gathering. Whether it was because the event was cancelled due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021, or merely the excellent spring weather, the 2022 show proved highly successful with more than 100 vehicles showing up at the Brooklands, Surrey event.
They ranged from a line-up of Leyland Nationals to mark 50 years since the marque first entered service, the half centenary of bus dealer and operator Ensign being commemorated with its specially-liveried gold bus, to GW 713, a 1931 Weymann-bodied Gilford 1680T.
