Refurbished Plaxton Profile coaches replace double-decker East Lancs-bodied buses
Stagecoach East Midlands has unveiled four refurbished 54-plate Plaxton Profile-bodied Volvo B7Rs to operate on its X62 route, running between Hull and Leeds.
The coaches have moved down from Stragecoach West Scotland and replaced three East Lancsbodied Volvo B7TLs.
X-Factor’s Ryan Mathie was present at the unveiling in Hull city centre on Valentine’s Day. He boarded the X62 to serenade passengers, singing love songs as he launched the new ‘Love Your X’ fleet. Later on February 14, fellow X-Factor contestant Carolynne Poole helped launch the Love Your X service in Leeds.
The vehicles have been completely refurbished with a full repaint and now include free WiFi. The coaches are decked out in a vibrant Love Your X livery.
To celebrate the launch, a Valentine Duo ‘Bring a loved one for free’ offer is running from Saturday February 15 to Sunday February 23.
A new commuter ticket – megarider X – can also be purchased for a special introductory price of £20 in the same week, before switching to a £39 standard price. The ticket includes a week’s travel on all local Stagecoach services in Hull.
Shoppers and commuters who use the service can also benefit from a new ‘Shop in your Pocket’ timetable voucher booklet, with money-saving offers for a range of stores in Hull and at Junction 32 Outlet Shopping Village. Offers include discounts from the likes of Wok and Go and Handmade Burger Company in Hull, Peter Jones, Gap and Mountain Warehouse at Junction 32 Glasshoughton. In the coming months, further offers for stores in Hull and Leeds will be added.
Michelle Hargreaves, Stagecoach East Midland’s Managing Director, said: “The X62 is definitely on the up. It’s a frequent and reliable service, offering commuters and shoppers hassle free travel to and from Hull city centre.
“Shoppers and commuters can now travel in greater comfort, enjoy free WiFi and save money in local stores thanks to Love Your X.”
Love Your X coaches run from Hull nine times a day Monday to Saturday 0450 to 1740hrs, with the last service returning from Leeds at 1940hrs. There are four journeys on Sundays and Bank Holidays leaving Hull at 0910, 1010, 1430 and 1530hrs.
A new commuter service from Goole is also being introduced, leaving from Goole at 0739hrs and departing from the Hull Interchange at 1740hrs.
