The Stagecoach Express X10, which uses Plaxton Elite coaches, offered free travel for its first week
Stagecoach Yorkshire has announced a new express coach service, the Stagecoach Express X10, which will provide a fast, limited stop connection for commuters and leisure users between Barnsley and Leeds.
The limited stop service runs hourly, seven days a week from Barnsley via the motorway into Leeds; New Lodge, Darton, Kexborough and Leeds City Bus Station with late night journeys also available on Friday and Saturday.
The X10 started running from October 28. Its fleet of Plaxton Elite coaches feature charging points as well as free on-board WiFi. To celebrate the launch of the new service, Stagecoach initially offered free travel on all trips on the Stagecoach Express X10, from October 28 to November 3.
From November 4, fares can be paid on the coach with either cash or contactless payment. Day and weekly tickets are available and passengers can also download the Stagecoach Bus App to buy tickets in advance.
A single fare will cost £6, and a return is priced at £7. A ‘travel all week’ ticket costs £30, whilst an Explorer Leeds ticket (based on two adults and up to three children) costs £15, and allows for a day’s unlimited travel all across the region.
John Young, Commercial Director at Stagecoach, said: “We are really excited to bring this new service to our customers.
“The X10 will get passengers from Barnsley into Leeds quickly and comfortably without them having to worry about sitting behind a wheel in traffic jams or expensive city centre parking charges.
“Whether you’re travelling for work, heading into Leeds for a day out shopping or even visiting Leeds for its nightlife, we have a great value ticket for your journey.
“We are expecting this service to be very popular and are looking forward to welcoming our first passengers on board the Stagecoach Express X10.”
